Adrian’s Rating: 7 (WO)
This film is put together well enough, but I think they were a little confused about their target audience. First impressions suggest romantic comedy - and it is a romantic comedy - but perhaps not one the fairer sex might completely appreciate:

  • the main character is male
  • and a womanising one at that
  • and the film is very testosterone driven

I don’t expect too many guys to make a bee-line for the romantic comedy section and hence why I think it is all a bit confused. Thankfully there is nothing here to make me consider watching it again (I am starting to think I should rate these “watch once” as 6) so future confusion should be safely averted.

I had forgotten just how much I enjoyed this. Lou and I saw both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz in the cinema, and consequently some time passed between us seeing them. Hence we missed some of the connections between the two movies (and the TV series Spaced - which we didn’t see until much later - thanks UCB - for that matter as well)

Somewhat of a cult film back when I was at uni and part of Unisfa - it still remains a timeless classic for me. Most likely due to the lack of visual effects that would date it. I wonder if I will look back on the Lord of the Rings in ten years and think less of it due to aging special effects? I guess only time will tell…
